Carl Jung - Individuation As A Mystical Source Of Meaning

Carl Jung, probably the most influential psychiatrist, and psychoanalyst to have ever walked the earth, introduced the concept of Individuation for the first time in 1921. Using this intricate concept, Jung aimed to explain how individuals develop a distinct and integrated identity, separate from societal norms, expectations, or collective psychology. As described by Jung, the ultimate goal of individuation is psychological wholeness, achieved when all of a person's latent potentials are actualized, and all elements of the unconscious are brought to the light of consciousness and integrated harmoniously into their character. It's an ongoing process of self-realization and development, which lasts throughout a person's lifetime. It’s a higher goal to strive towards, a source of meaning. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🗝 Support Agrippa's Diary: 🤍 📘 One-time donations via PayPal: 🤍 ☕ Donate a Coffee: 🤍 🎦 Subscribe to YouTube: 🤍 📱Follow Agrippa's Diary on Tik Tok: 🤍 📷Follow Agrippa's Diary on Instagram: 🤍 📚Agrippa's Library of Occult Wisdom: 🤍 🗏 Link to the Transcript: 🤍 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🎶 Music used in the video: 1. In this video we will be talking about 9 Life Lessons From Carl Jung. He found his own school of psychology, called analytical psychology and his philosophy is dubbed as “Jungian philosophy”. Its concepts can apply to many topics covered in the humanities and the social sciences. So with that in mind, here are 9 important lessons that we can learn from Carl Jung - 01. Look inside yourself first 02. Integrate your contraries 03. Analyze your dreams 04. Learn to face reality 05. Be aware of superstitions 06. Think, do not judge 07. Avoid excessive pride 08. Be eager to grow older 09. Tell your story I hope you enjoyed watching the video and hope these 9 Life Lessons From Carl Jung will add value to your life. Carl Jung, together with Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler, is one of the 3 founders of psychoanalysis which is a set of psychological theories and methods aiming to release repressed emotions and experiences - in other words, to make the unconscious conscious. Jung was born in Switzerland in 1875 and died in 1961, leaving behind great works in the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, psychology and religious studies. Jung had Freud as a mentor for a good part of his career but later he departed from him. This division was painful for Jung and it led him to found his own school of psychology, called analytical psychology as a comprehensive system separate from psychoanalysis. If classical psychoanalysis focuses on the patient’s past, as early experiences are very important in personality development, analytical psychology primarily focuses on the present, on mythology, folklore, and cultural experiences, to try to understand human consciousness. One of the most important ideas of analytical psychology which Jung founded is the process of individuation, which is the process of finding the self - something Jung considered an important task in human development. While he did not formulate a systematic philosophy, he is nonetheless considered a sophisticated philosopher - his school of thought dubbed “Jungian philosophy”. Its concepts can apply to many topics covered in the humanities and the social sciences. A good part of his work was published after his death and indeed there are still some articles written by him that to this day have yet to be published. Some of his most important books are: “Psychology of the Unconscious”, “Man and His Symbols”, “The Archetypes and The Collective Unconscious”, “Modern Man In Search of a Soul”, “The Psychology of the Transference”, “Memories, Dreams, Thoughts”, and “The Relations Between the Ego and the Unconscious”. Besides being a great writer and a researcher, he was also an artist, a craftsman and even a builder. His contribution is enormous and there is a great deal we can learn from his works. Carl Gustav Jung, the father of analytical psychology was one of the most influential psychologists of all time. Throughout his life, Jung formulated numerous groundbreaking psychological concepts that have left an indelible mark on the field. Among these are synchronicity, archetypal phenomena, the collective unconscious, psychological complexes, the personality traits of extraversion and introversion, and the process of individuation. The son of a protestant, who refused to adhere completely to any religious doctrine, Jung studied throughout his life various religious traditions, including Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Gnosticism, as well as esoteric traditions like Alchemy and Astrology. But what inspired Jung to dedicate his entire life to this field and most importantly what gave birth to his profound fascination with alchemy and the esoteric arts? He found his own school of psychology, called analytical psychology and his philosophy is dubbed as “Jungian philosophy”. Within the field of psychology, Jung is famously known for introducing the terms ‘introvert’ and ‘extravert,’ introducing archetypes of the psyche and classifying the boundary between the unconscious and conscious. Our consciousness includes everything that we know about ourselves; the unconsciousness entails everything that is part of us but that we are not aware of. Jung introduced ‘the ego’ and ‘the persona’ as our consciousness, and ‘the shadow’ and ‘the animus and anima’ as the parts that make up our unconsciousness. The shadow is one of the toughest, most intimidating parts to handle: it exists out of everything about ourselves that we dislike, which is why we often refuse to acknowledge it as a part of us. However, what many people don’t know is that not facing the shadow can be an even more intense blow on your self-esteem. But facing it is actually the only way to gain true control over yourself and who you are. Which is why in this video, we will teach you how you can truly own yourself by doing so-called shadow work in 3 easy steps, from the philosophy of Carl Jung. Step 1 - Meet Your Shadow Step 2 - Accept Your Shadow Step 3 - Integrate Your Shadow I hope you enjoyed watching the video and hope that this wisdom on owning yourself from the philosophy of Carl Jung will be helpful in your life. What is the unconscious and do you really have one? Jungian psychology and the Yogācāra school of Buddhism both investigated the depths of the human psyche. Both proposed the existence of a hidden layer beneath our everyday conscious mind. In the way they understood this hidden (unconscious) mind, Jung and the Buddhists agreed on some essential points, but not on all. Both the similarities of their views and their differences give us fascinating insights into the functioning of our own psyches. #philosophy #wisdom #buddhism #carljung #psychology #unconscious ⭐ Support this channel: 🤍 💰PayPal Donation: 🤍 📨 Subscribe with email: 🤍 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📚 Recommended Reading ▶ Ālayavijñāna from a Practical Point of View (Nobuyoshi Yamabe) ▶ Subliminal Mind in Analytical Psychology and Yogacara Buddhism (Jinkeon Moon) ▶ Buddhist theory of Unconscious Mind (ālaya-vijñāna) (William S. One of the most significant discoveries of the early 20th century was of a part of the mind we now refer to as ‘the unconscious.’ It came to be properly appreciated that what we know of ourselves in ordinary consciousness comprises only a fraction of what is actually at play within us; and that a lot of what we really want, feel and are is not at our mental fingertips, lying instead in a penumbra of ignorance, fantasy and denial which we can only hope to dispel with patient and compassionate efforts, probably with the assistance of an analyst. Carl Jung's Word Association Test - included below - is a tool designed to help us access the unconscious. It comproises a sequence of a 100 words. The Shadow - Carl Jung's Warning to The World

Carl Jung warns us against the dangers of the shadow (the unknown dark side of our personality). We must acknowledge our shadow and enter into long and difficult negotiations with it through shadow work. Only then can we become conscious of the collective shadow (the unknown dark side of mankind) and not fall prey to it. Exploring our shadow allows us to rescue the good qualities that lie dormant within us, which improves our lives and the lives of those around us. We can then face the collective shadow and take responsibility to address the denial of important issues and a lack of individual and collective initiative. Telling the truth is the most desirable way to deal with a difficult past, rather than dismissing the atrocities and having the shadow grow blacker until it can no grow no more, and thus history repeats itself. ⭐ Become a Patron (exclusive content): 🤍 📺 YouTube Member (exclusive content): 🤍 🛒 Official Merch: 🤍 ☕ Donate a Coffee: 🤍 📘 PayPal: 🤍 🎦 Subscribe to the official clips channel: 🤍 📨 Subscribe with email: 🤍 📚 My personal library: 🤍 🎨 Access transcript and artwork gallery 🤍 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📚 Recommended Reading ▶ Man and His Symbols (1964) 🤍 ▶ Modern Man In Search of a Soul (1933) 🤍 ▶ Memories, Dreams, Reflections (1961) 🤍 Excellent books (in no particular order, choose what interests you) ▶ The Archetypes and The Collective Unconscious - C.W. The shadow is one of the most well-known pieces of Psychiatrist, Carl Jung's philosophical legacy. This dark, unconscious part of the psyche is both deeply fascinating and incredibly misunderstood, not to mention difficult to make tangible. How do you explore or work on something you aren’t conscious of? That said, it can be done, and doing so is vitally important for knowing who you truly are, healing, and reaching your potential. So in this transmission, we’re going to explore the shadow and the philosophy of Carl Jung from a number of angles in an effort to both help shed light on it and to begin to understand how we can actually work with it. Why Jung Hated Philosophers

Jung once described himself as a failed philosopher. Instead he chose the path of science with psychology. It is surprising then to see what Walter Kaufmann calls Jung's "wildly emotional overreaction" to thinkers like Heidegger and Kierkegaard. Is philosophy Jung's Shadow? In this episode we explore what Jung said about the philosophers and why. For this we'll draw on letters written by Jung and look at the tension in him between what he calls his No. 1 Personality and his No. 2 Personality and then we're going to explore whether this hatred of the philosophers might not come from a fault-line in Jung's own psychology. 📚 Further Reading: Jung, C.G. Carl Jung was a great psychologist of symbolism. He believed that the imagination roamed where articulated knowledge had not yet voyaged, and that it was the artist and visionary who first explored new territory, civilizing it, in essence, for those who came later. The study of Jung makes the dead religious past spring back to life. - SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL - Direct Support: 🤍 Merchandise: 🤍 - BOOKS - 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos: 🤍 Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief: 🤍 - LINKS - Website: 🤍 12 Rules for Life Tour: 🤍 Blog: 🤍 Podcast: 🤍 Reading List: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 - PRODUCTS - Personality Course: 🤍 Self Authoring Suite: 🤍 Understand Myself personality test: 🤍 Merchandise: 🤍

Rediscovering your feelings is a powerful step towards self-healing. Carl Jung viewed feeling as a judgement function that allowed a person to know what was good for them - and ultimately what their true values were. In this video I explore how to rediscover your feelings. I do this by talking about what it means to rediscover your feelings and the significance of feelings in your life. I then explore how there are different therapies that can help you understand your feelings better. A lot of the time our feelings are unconscious and we have to employ different psychological methods to get a glimpse at our feeling side of our personality. Going through Carl Jung's works we also explore how he thought that we could develop our feeling to higher levels. We all go through difficult times and have our own life struggles so being able to reconnect to our feelings is a very powerful process for all of us. It is not something to take lightly. It is in fact one of the most important aspects of our self identity and forms the quality of our life. My hope is that you are empowered to come into a deeper understanding of your feelings and that you receive the healing and strengthening that you need at this time. Jung discusses his concerns for the world in regard to communism, nuclear weapons, and the fragile state of democracy. Most troubling to Jung are the ever-increasing proclivity to mass-mindedness, and the eradication of the individual by the "State". Written decades ago, this brilliant work has more impact than ever in today's world, where many of Jung's concerns have come to fruition. The informed listener will, no doubt, find Jung's predictions, and assessment of human nature, spookily accurate. Note: this is my second narration of this essay. The original narration of it was my first narration ever, and I believe this one to be a considerable improvement over the first. Read by Gregg Boethin

The Seven Sermons to the Dead (1916) by Carl Gustav Jung

Summary: "The Seven Sermons to the Dead" is a unique and compelling section within "The Red Book," which is a larger and significant work by renowned Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. Composed in 1916, these seven sermons convey some of Jung's most complex and profound ideas, inspired by Gnostic traditions. In this portion of the work, Jung stages a dialogue with the "dead," representing departed souls visiting his home in Zurich, driven by a spiritual quest to understand God. It provides a framework for Jung to delve into his groundbreaking concepts on the nature of the psyche, individuation, the reconciliation of opposites, and the spiritual dimensions of human existence. The sermons touch upon a series of interconnected and layered concepts: 1 Abraxas: A god who transcends the duality of good and evil, embodying both attributes. 2 Pleroma: A state of perfect fullness and unity where all opposites are reconciled and from which existence originates. 3 Individuation: The process of becoming a complete, self-realized individual, highlighting the interplay between conscious and unconscious components of the psyche. 4 Love and Desire: Their intrinsic roles in human spiritual development and the unfolding of individual existence. 5 Magic: As a counterpart to the inward journey of individuation, presenting the objective pursuit of this process. 6 Good and Evil: The exploration of these concepts as relative and reconcilable within the larger whole represented by Abraxas. 7 The Nature of Man: Man as a bridge between the spiritual and the physical, and the importance of embodiment in the process of individuation. These sermons mark an exploration of the deeper layers of the psyche and constitute a significant stepping stone in Jung's development of analytical psychology. However, given the depth and complexity of these concepts, a deeper reading and study of the sermons are essential to fully understand and appreciate Jung's ideas. Carl Jung - How To Be Authentic (Jungian Philosophy)

In this video we will be talking about how to be authentic from the philosophy of Carl Jung. He found his own school of psychology, called analytical psychology and his philosophy is dubbed as “Jungian philosophy”. According to Carl Jung, in order to be authentic, it is crucial to face four of your archetypes in order to go through the individuation process. These are the 01. Persona 02. The shadow 03. The anima or animus 04. The self I hope you enjoyed watching the video and hope that this wisdom on being authentic from the philosophy of Carl Jung will be helpful in your life. #jung #carljung #psychology Carl Jung and the Dark Night of the Soul In this video, we go over the idea of the Dark Night of the Soul which is explained by Jung as an experience where one pulls back their projections and comes into an encounter with their shadow. During this period one struggles with feelings of meaninglessness and confusion. We explore the psychological implications of the alchemical process Jung outlines that occurs as one works through the experience of the Dark Night of the Soul. Jung's concept of synchronicity describes meaningful coincidences that lack causality - an acausal connecting principle. Such events are hypothesized to underlie historical accounts of magic, divination, astrology, and telepathy. "Matter Of Heart" is a compelling and inspiring film portrait of Carl Gustav Jung, a man whose extraordinary genius and humanity reached far beyond the sometimes exclusive realm of psychiatry into redefining the essential nature of who we are and what we hope to become. More than a linear biography, the film presents a fuller perspective on this analyst, healer, friend and mentor, through the skillful interweaving of rare home movies, valuable archival footage and a wealth of interviews with such notables as Sir Laurens van der Post, Marie-Louise von Franz and Joseph Henderson, M.D. The life and thinking of the great Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Gustav Jung, is examined. Interviews are done with those who knew him, most of whom were analyzed by him and very often became analysts themselves. Jung's own words appear on screen, and archive footage of Jung himself is shown. We learn aspects of his private life, including his relationship with his wife, Emma, and his mistress, Toni Wolff. But mostly we learn of his philosophy, sometimes mystical in nature, regarding the collective unconscious, the ego-personality, anima and animus, and more (1985).

It is probably the most controversial theme discussed in the psychological circles and all of those deeper into their spiritual work. It is needless to say shadow work can get confusing and the term shadow work doesn’t bring much clarity. Today I will tell you what shadow work is. Due to the term shadow work, one can easily conjure all kinds of dark and sinister things. Many of us think it involves dark spiritual pratices or maybe a process that involves negative and monevolent aspects of the personality. But this isn’t the case. So what exactly is shadow work? We are born whole, but our wholeness is short lived because we are also relationaly dependent as children. It is natural as babies to need others for support. We are born with this dependency into a family that will socialize us into a society that is too young to understand we are at the early stages of development and haven’t reached much past the ego, you can imagine this will cause trouble. They will teach us that some aspects of ourselves are loved and accepted while others are not. What is acceptable or not acceptable about us really depends on the perspective and mindset of the family we are born into. = FAIR-USE COPYRIGHT DISCLAIMER Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, commenting, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. In the framework of Jungian psychology, the Cosmic Man takes on a further dimension as it aligns with the archetype of Self. The ancient archetype of the Cosmic Man and its significance are present in various creation myths across different cultures. This archetype symbolizes oneness, unity, and merging with the universe. The Cosmic Man appears in myths such as Adam Kadmon in Jewish mysticism, Ymir in Norse mythology, and Purusha in Indian philosophy. It represents the oneness of human existence and serves as a seed for the creation of the world. The Cosmic Man is a symbol of Self in Jungian archetypes, representing the unification of consciousness and unconsciousness. The process of individuation associated with the Cosmic Man aims to bring about wholeness in the individual and collective, enabling authenticity and acceptance of oneself and others. Dive into the rich mythologies surrounding the Cosmic Man and uncover the deep connections between humanity and the universe. Carl Jung, in full Carl Gustav Jung, (born July 26, 1875, Kesswil, Switzerland—died June 6, 1961, Küsnacht), Swiss psychologist and psychiatrist who founded analytic psychology, in some aspects a response to Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis. Jung proposed and developed the concepts of the extraverted and the introverted personality, archetypes, and the collective unconscious. His work has been influential in psychiatry and in the study of religion, literature, and related fields. In this video, we explore Carl Jung's search for the soul - which entails making the unconscious conscious, confronting the dark night of the soul, shadow work, integrating the anima and animus, and achieving wholeness. Carl Gustav Jung (26 July 1875 – 6 June 1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology. Jung's work has been influential in the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, psychology, and religious studies. Jung worked as a research scientist at the famous Burghölzli hospital, under Eugen Bleuler. During this time, he came to the attention of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. The two men conducted a lengthy correspondence and collaborated, for a while, on a joint vision of human psychology. Freud saw the younger Jung as the heir he had been seeking to take forward his "new science" of psychoanalysis and to this end secured his appointment as president of his newly founded International Psychoanalytical Association. Jung's research and personal vision, however, made it impossible for him to follow his older colleague's doctrine and a schism became inevitable. This division was personally painful for Jung and resulted in the establishment of Jung's analytical psychology as a comprehensive system separate from psychoanalysis. Among the central concepts of analytical psychology is individuation—the lifelong psychological process of differentiation of the self out of each individual's conscious and unconscious elements. Jung considered it to be the main task of human development. He created some of the best known psychological concepts, including synchronicity, archetypal phenomena, the collective unconscious, the psychological complex and extraversion and introversion. In this video, we explore Carl Jung's concept of the shadow and how to integrate it into our personality to attain wholeness. This script was written and recorded by Eternalised. A wonderful clip featuring Mary Bancroft from the documentary on C.G. Jung "Matter of The Heart." When Jung poked Mary with a very simple question, she was shown a reflection that she wasn’t quite ready to honesty acknowledge... Her response is a quintessential example of “projection”. Jung's connection to the unconscious meant that he could peer into the depths, and bring it right back out to meet you. This intuitive sensitivity meant that Jung could "know" the (supposedly) unknowable.
