Hamnøy, Moskenes, Lofoten Islands, Norway. The oldest fishing village in the stunning Lofoten archipelago is small, but unbelievably beautiful. It is considered to be one of the most picturesque villages in the municipality of Moskenes, which is also a popular tourist destination due to its scenic and unspoiled nature.Visitors are accommodated in the original fishermen cabins – the oldest one is from the 1890s. mercoledì 11 agosto Isole Lofoten - Å (isola di Moskenesøy) - Ramberg (isola di Flakstadøy) Ci svegliamo alla solita ora, 8.30 circa, e dopo colazione decidiamo di visitare il villaggio di Å un autentico gioiellino spesso chiamato anche Å i Lofoten. È una sorta di museo vivente a cielo aperto, un villaggio di pescatori perfettamente conservato con una fila di rorbuer rosse sul lungomare, essiccatoi per il merluzzo. Foto da cartolina dietro ogni angolo. Oggi vive soprattutto di turismo, anche se un tempo era un importante porto di pesca, fino alla seconda guerra mondiale vi venivano essiccati più di 700.000 merluzzi. Decidiamo di visitare il museo Norsk Fiskevaermuseum che comprende 14 delle 19 rimesse per le barche, magazzini, capanni per pescatori edifici commerciali. Visitiamo la più antica fabbrica di olio di fegato di merluzzo d’Europa, il panificio tuttora funzionante, l’antico rimessaggio di barche e una tipica casa di pescatori. Acquistiamo nella panetteria un caffè e il divino Kanelnurr, girella alla cannella. Pranziamo al Brygga Restaurant assaggiando il miglior Fish and Chips mai mangiato e una deliziosa zuppa di pesce con salmone 🍣 e gamberetti 🍤. Verso le 14 ripartiamo direzione nord verso l’isola di Flakstadøy, arriviamo al villaggio di Ramberg dove veniamo subito catturati da una spiaggia di sabbia bianchissima di fronte ad una baia dalle acque turchesi. Oggi non splende il sole ☀️e non riesco ad immaginare come possa essere nelle giornata soleggiate … una spiaggia caraibica a nord del Circolo Polare Artico 😱. Navigando su internet ho scaricato una foto … così per avere un’idea di come possa essere quando splende il sole ☀️ 😅 !!! Poco dopo il piccolo villaggio di Flakstad facciamo una deviazione dalla E10 in direzione Nusfjord, un villaggio a dir poco incantevole. Con le sue casette di legno rosso scuro Nusfjord è l’essenza più autentica delle Lofoten; camminiamo senza meta tra le viuzze del villaggio scattando foto ovunque, ogni angolo è semplicemente spettacolare. Tornati al camper decidiamo di trascorrere la notte al Lofoten Beach Camping un bellissimo campeggio proprio sulla spiaggia. Chilometri percorsi 37

If there is one place on earth where it doesn’t matter if it rains, if snows, or if the sun shines because it’s beautiful never the less - it must be Lofoten Islands in Norway. A rugged mountain chain is rising up from the Gulf Stream, forming a rare and unique world. It’s wild and beautiful, with azure blue water, white beaches, green mountainsides, beautiful fjords, old fishing towns and maybe some of the most spectacular roads in the world. Here are my Highlights for a visit on Lofoten islands: - Visit the town Å i Lofoten - Sleep in traditional Rorbuer, old fishing huts that are often reused as appartments and rent out to tourists - Dine at Holmen Restaurant - Drive over the stunning Fredvang bridges - Check out the artistic village Henningsvær and it's football field, that is situated on it's own island - Visit Nusfjord, one of the best preserved historic fishing villages in all of Norway On our arrival with the ferry from Bodø in Moskenes on the island Moskenesøy of Lofoten we first did a trip to the most southern village of the island - that has the shortes name I ever came across: Å. After arriving in our accommodation Eliassen Rorbuer I invited my travel partner to Holmen Restaurant for a amazing dining experience. The next day we finally took off to explore Lofoten: We drove over water at the beautiful Fredvang bridges, visited Nusfjord and it's restored historic village, looked at some art boutiques and the football field at Henningsvær and ended our day in Svolvær. The Arctic, the place of midnight sun and at the same time the land where the sun never rises. The journey takes us to the frontier of the arctic kingdom, to the city Mo I Rana, to the Polar Circle and to another long ferry ride from the town Bodø to Lofoten Islands. Finally we were starting a day without rain at Trondheimfjord! But we were not lucky for long: when reaching Nord Norge, the most northern part of Norway, the rain followed us wherever we went. After a lunchstop at Mosjøen we stayed the night in the city Mo I Rana and had Norway's best Mojito in Mo I Ranas amazing restaurant No3. At 5:30 am we took off from Mo I Rana and drove over the Arctic Circle, visited the (closed) Arctic Circle center and then had to rush to catch the ferry to Lofoten Islands. You'll never forget your first approach to the Lofoten Islands. The islands spread their tall, craggy physique against the sky like some spiky sea dragon, and you wonder how human beings eke out a living in such seemingly inhospitable surroundings. The beauty of this place is simply staggering. The main islands, Austvågøy, Vestvågøy, Flakstadøy and Moskenesøy, are separated from the mainland by Vestfjorden, but all are connected by road bridges and tunnels. On each are sheltered bays, sheep pastures and picturesque villages. The vistas and the special quality of the Arctic light have long attracted artists, represented in galleries throughout the islands. One of the best ways to appreciate the view is to follow the E10 road, which runs along the islands from tip to toe.

Die norwegischen Lofoten sind der westlichste Archipel im Nordmeer nördlich des Polarkreises. Sie bestehen aus sieben Hauptinseln: Austvågøy, Gimsøy, Vestvågøy, Flakstadøy, Moskenesøy, Værøy und Røst. Der südlichste Teil von Norwegens größter Insel, Hinnøy, gehört ebenfalls zu den Lofoten. Starke Gezeitenströme fließen in den Sunden zwischen den Inseln. Sie sind, neben der Nähe des offenen Meers, eine wichtige Ursache des Fischreichtums und der Kulturgeschichte dieser Gegend. An der geschützten, dem Festland zugewandten Seite der Lofoten liegen die Fischersiedlungen mit ihren charakteristischen Fischerhütten, z. B. Henningsvær und Nusfjord. Auf Nebensträßen kommt man auch nach Eggum und anderen idyllischen Plätzen an der dem Meer zugewandten Seite, wo im Sommer die Mitternachtssonne über dem Horizont steht. Angeln, Paddeln, Seerafting, Klettern, Golf und Tauchen sind gefragte Aktivitäten. Wer die Ruhe und Stille sucht, findet sie in den zahlreichen einsamen Sandbuchten. Die Lofotfischerei, bei der Kabeljau gefangen wird, findet im Winter statt. Sie bildet bis heute die Grundlage der Besiedlung des Archipels. Wer will, kann die Lofoten eigenständig auf der Norwegische Landschaftsroute Lofoten entdecken. Die Route zwischen Fiskebøl und Å in der Region Nordland ist 166 km lang. Entlang der Route gibt es elf Haltepunkte. Zu den Haltepunkten gehören Rastplätze, Aussichtspunkte, Vogelbeobachtungstürme sowie Rasthäuser. Zur Landschaftsroute Lofoten gibt es mehrere Verbindungen. Man kann mit dem Auto auf der Fernverkehrsstraße Rv 10 und mit Fähren von verschiedenen Orten aus anreisen. Im Süden verkehren Fähren auf der Strecke Bodø - Moskenes, Svolvær - Skutvik und Bognes - Lødingen. Im Norden gibt es eine Fährverbindung zwischen Melbu - Fiskebøl.

Here, turquoise waves crash on the golden sand and vertical cliffs rise into the clouds in a display of Lofoten at its best. Highly recommend!

Ab dem 14. Jahrhundert beherrschten Kaufleute aus Bergen den Fischhandel. Die Lofoten gehörten auch steuerlich zu Bergen. Je nach der Größe des Fischfangs ging es den Einwohnern der Lofoten gut oder schlecht. 1860 gab es große Heringsvorkommen, die zu den heutigen Besiedlungen führten.

Accommodations each evening reflect the charm and humility of the Norwegian people, and are often in the form of a fisherman’s cabin set on stilts at the end of a wharf. We recommend catching a flight from Oslo to the Narvik/Harstad airport. Harstad is a small town and a pleasant place to acclimatize following your travels; if you decide to arrive early, please ask for help securing lodging. At the end of your bike tour, you will want to arrange a flight from Bodø back to Oslo; both routes are operated by Norweigan and SAS.
