Besides Dirk Schlächter (bass), Henjo Richter (guitar), Michael Ehré (drums) and Frank Beck (vocals), Hansen is the band’s lead vocalist, guitarist and chief songwriter. The expressive power of the band’s music is reflected in their energetic live shows. There’s hardly a renowned metal festival where GAMMA RAY haven’t rocked the crowds, hardly an international magazine which hasn’t featured at least one GAMMA RAY title story. This is why GAMMA RAY decided to invite the fans to send in recordings of screaming, hailing and whistling to their favourite GAMMA RAY songs, which will be added to the end of the show and gives fans the chance to participate on this release! “30 YEARS LIVE ANNIVERSARY” is available as 2-CD Digipak + DVD, as 3xLP on black vinyl (+ Blu-ray in some countries), and digital. Furthermore, a limited edition 3xLP on coloured vinyl (+ Blu-ray) is available. Each of the three LPs is pressed on a different vinyl colour. This rare video goes back to the very beginning of Gamma Ray. Released in 1990, the album was the first release by Kai Hansen after leaving Helloween. A curiosity: the very first edition of the album was attributed to Kai Hansen. Inside a LP sized overcover, fans would discover the Gamma Ray name for the first time, through the cover we all know. The album was remastered in 2015 and reissued as part of the “25 years of Gamma Ray” celebration with a second CD full of rarities. The video has been restored and the audio is the most recent remastered version. Enjoy! This video was filmed in Hamburg at Hammer Studio which was like a second home (or first?) for all Gamma Ray members. This video session took place only a few days after the band finished the mixes of the studio album 'To The Metal!'. Sadly, the studio does not exist anymore, it burned down in a scary firestorm during the recordings of the follow-up album 'Empire of The Undead’ as shown and discussed in the Bonus DVD that was bundled to that album (which we might share in part on this channel in the future – should we?). There are very grounded reasons to think that the delivery of the mixes at the 11th hour, as well as the filming of this videos just one second before the bonus DVD was supposed to go to print have inspired the song 'Master Of Confusion'. But that´s another story! For now please enjoy this remastered video and, if you like it, leave a comment below.

"We have been away for quite some time", declared guitarist and founding member Kai Hansen. "We have released what we consider a very beautiful live product, 'Live Skeletons and Majesties', but we felt it was time to release some new music by the Rayz... With its 60 minutes of pure and raw Gamma Ray, "Master Of Confusion" is a great way to wait for the new album, scheduled for the end of 2013. Coinciding with the start of the "Hellish Rock, Part II" tour, "Master of Confusion" will be released on March 15th, 2013 via earMUSIC. Gamma Ray always takes its music and the relationship with their fans very seriously, and the band wanted this release to be priced as a mid price mini-album. Kai & co. are not afraid to celebrate their peculiarity with humour and irony. Reading the lyrics of the song 'Master Of Confusion' not too many clarifications are necessary... Gamma Ray are indeed the masters of confusion, a trait all the fans and also the music industry had no option than to accept and appreciate. They bring chaos to other people's lives, they miss important deadlines, they reschedule the release of the desperately awaited new long player, but they never miss a show, they never let a fan down, and in a world of calculated and career-driven rock stars, they are among the few remaining honest true heavy metal heroes. "Skeletons & Majesties Live" has a playing time of two hours and is a tour de force through the band's history so far, including lots of hits and classics, but also tracks which were undeservedly under-represented to date. "The EP, Skeletons & Majesties, is practically a continuation of our 'Skeletons In The Closet' concept, in other words: new versions of songs which didn't receive the attention they deserve, as well as unplugged versions of some of our classics," says Kai Hansen, the band's vocalist, guitarist and founder. In terms of "Skeletons & Majesties Live", this means a thoroughly haunting show, from the dynamic openers 'Anywhere In The Galaxy' and 'Men, Martians And Machines' to the furioso finale, 'Future World'. The double CD includes a total of 18 songs (plus intro & interlude); DVD and Blu-ray will feature six additional bonus tracks with alternative versions of 'The Spirit,' 'Wings Of Destiny,' 'Farewell,' 'Gamma Ray,' 'Time To Break Free' and 'Insurrection,' all recorded at another show at the Zeche in Bochum, the day before the Pratteln show .
