Decoupage DIY using FABRIC on a “Glass Cutting Board” that I purchased from The Dollar Tree!! You can see my diy video where I demo using a napkin, here’s the video link: 🤍 In this video I’m using FABRIC! A little different and I will show you step by step! I will demo several techniques including reverse decoupage AND the ‘iron-on’ method. These two techniques makes this project so much fun and so easy! You will be creating beautiful glass cutting boards in no time! You’ll need some cotton fabric that can be purchased from large craft and hobby stores. Maybe you already have some fabric on hand! You’ll also need: glass cutting boards from The Dollar Tree and other readily available crafting supplies, like: brushes, Mod Podge, chalk paint, nail file, alcohol wipes and acrylic sealant! I’ll also introduce you to my newest crafting tool, a small craft iron by Cricket! But you can also use a household iron to do this project. These cutting boards are fun to make, great gifts and a fantastic project for craft nights with your friends! A very unique gift for showers, birthdays, Easter, weddings, Mothers Day, hostess gifts and more! These cutting boards are beautiful decor but they can also be used! THEY DO NEED SPECIAL CARE! Here’s some important instructions and other information : no dishwasher, no microwave, wipe the top after use and dry. Do not submerge in water and use only as labeled “cutting board”! ✨ Save and share this tutorial and follow us for more furniture flips, hints & tips! ✨ Since posting our makeover video of this Lebus set of drawers, a lot of the questions we’re getting are around using fabric to decoupage the drawers and how we do it. Here you go! Step 1 - Paint your piece of furniture first. If the fabric you’re going to be using is light coloured, then use a lighter colour paint (like white) as your base. Step 2 - Cut your fabric to roughly the right size. Step 3 - Apply a layer of Mod Podge (or any good PVA glue) to the furniture, then lay down your fabric over top, pressing down firmly and working out any creases or air bubbles. Then apply another coat of Mod Podge and leave to dry. Step 4 - Pull the edges of the fabric away gently, so that you can use a blade to trim away the excess fabric along the edges of your furniture. Then use 120 grit sandpaper to smooth out those edges. Apply another coat of Mod Podge and leave to dry. Step 5 - Use 320 grit sandpaper to sand over the fabric and give it a lovely smooth finish. Wipe away any sanding dust. Touch up your edges with your paint colour. Step 6 - Seal with two coats of varnish. Step 7 - Install your new hardware...and you're DONE! Got any questions? To get started, prime the little pot with white spray paint primer. 2. Next paint the outer rim and inside of the pot with blue craft paint. Use the flat side of the craft paintbrush to get a sharp line under the lip of the pot. Leave the sides of the pot white. This is where the fabric will go. 3. Make a template for the fabric. To do this, wrap a piece of tissue paper around the pot. Use a pencil to make the tissue under the lip of the pot and around the bottom edge of the pot. Mark the ends too, where the tissue wraps around to the beginning. 4. Use the straight pins to attach the tissue paper to the fabric. Be sure to select a portion of the fabric you want to show on the pot. Cut out the fabric around the template. 5. The last step is to decoupage the fabric onto the pot using the Outdoor Mod Podge. To do this, paint a generous layer of Mod Podge around the sides of the pot. Carefully line up the fabric on the pot and press it onto the pot. Use your finger to press out any wrinkles. 6. Finally, coat the outside of the fabric with Outdoor Mod Podge. Also paint the lip and inside the of the pot with the Mod Podge. Let dry. I’m so behind right now because the project I had planned for this week’s video is destroying me 😅 .
